Key Capabilities of the Project

Specifically, the three main outputs will develop the following key capabilities:

Modelling and simulation of Factory System of Systems (Factory SoS): a set of tools and standard models enabling to describe Factory of the Future (FoF) digitally and truthfully in their multiple dimensions, including vital streams from and to their ecosystem (financial, goods & products, information…) to support decision-making for process optimization and resilience.

Cyber-physical modelling and digital twins, enabling modelling and simulation of physical and IT-technical hazards and their consequences
Eco-system modelling, allowing support for real-time management decision-making
Human-behavior modelling, in order to understand an essential element influencing the functioning of the factory of the future and to be able to consider it in decision-making processes
Factory SoS modelling, incorporating the capabilities described above to create a digital twin of the factory of the future that can be used to optimize factory designs and validate functional principles and resilience mechanisms

Factory of the Future Optimization: cluster of technology developments enabling to optimize manufacturing and supply chain processes and develop data-centric business models

Real time sensing, tracking & supervision of tools, materials and humans in the supply chain, which can be used to identify the state and evolution of the factory of the future, to optimize their behavior and to detect anomalies and take appropriate action to control the anomalies
Data-lake exploitation: enabling to build new business opportunities based on big data analytics over the manufacturing data thread
Optimization of human / machine collaboration on the shop-floor with the help of AI-methods to facilitate “learning” by human operators and to allow autonomous “additional learning” while ensuring the safety of people and machines.
Distributed manufacturing capability: enabling to optimize the distributing of production load over a network of factories or fab-labs in real time

Factory of the Future Resilience: cluster of technology developments enabling to secure smart manufacturing systems, in particular against cyber-threats

Authorization authentication and continuous trust level management for humans and machines in FoF environment
Techniques to prevent, detect, respond and investigate on adversarial machine learning attempts affecting FoF AI modules
Mutual surveillance of humans and machines on shop floor environments, anomaly / misbehavior / attack detection
Decision support for incident response and autonomous reconfiguration / remediation management capabilities
